Having baby today!

Well I figure I need to post this before I'm sitting in the hospital. I went in today to do my pre op visit to find out that my blood pressure has sky rocketed and I gained 5 pounds of water weight in the last week. My Dr. is afraid I might have a seizure so he is having baby Riley come today at 3:30. I'm scared over whelmed and nervous all at the same time with alot of excitedness! Next time I post I will be a mommy. Wish me luck everyone! :)

Its true babies are in control starting in the womb!

Nolan and I went to our 38 week appointment today to discover a bit of a change with our baby Riley. The Dr. said I was dilated at a 2! That's not all, he then asked if we wanted to encourage delivery... Nolan then replied with a goofy comment like usual " do you mean like "go you" or something? LOL I love my goofy husband.

Anyways, while the Dr. was what he liked to call "encouraging delivery" he noticed that he couldn't feel Rileys head anymore. So he said we needed to do an emergency ultrasound to confirm Riley had moved. We did an ultrasound and sure enough Riley is now breech. Not only is he breech but he wont have enough room to move even if he wanted to. The kid is coming in at 8.7 pounds give or take with two weeks to go. So with that said I was told that I will need to get a C-section next Wednesday November 4th. November 4th is my ultrasound due date but my Dr. is still going by my orignal due date of November 9th. If Riley decides he wants to come earlier then we will be doing an emergency C-section.

My thoughts on the C-section. Somehow I had a feeling this could happen. In my mind I always said I'm not really opposed to anything. I would prefer an epideral but if Riley came too fast I would deal. I prefered having him normal but if a C-section had to happen I would be ok with it. I think Heavenly Father was preparing me to be open minded about this. I know it seems only minor but coming from someone who has only had her wisdom teeth out and thats it a c-section seems a little scary. If anyone has "happy" words of advice for me please send them my way. And please oh please don't tell me your horror stories. I hear enough of them at the hospital LOL.

Baby Bump Update!

Here is me at 35 weeks. I am now at 37 weeks but not much belly bump has changed. So far I am still feeling great! I still work full time 12 hours shifts at the hospital and am on my feet all day. A Few days ago we had a code at the hospital and I starting running towards the patients room. As I was running a cute little old man said to his wife "man she moves fast for being pregnant" LOL it was probably a site to see. The patients are always amazed of how well I move still even though I'm pretty much nine months pregnant. I may waddle but I still feel great!

One new adventure I was just recently introduced to is acid reflux. Its not the party it sounds like but with a little anti-acid it easily goes away. I for the most part still sleep well through the night but I hear once Riley is born that will all change. I haven't had swelling of my extremities yet too bad except for a little after a 12 hour shift. All and all I'm still feeling great. It would be nice though to meet lil' Riley soon :)

I had a depressing moment about a week back when I went to my 36 week appointment though. We went in for our regular appointment and Dr. Holmes like he always does told us that Riley is still HUGE. He's measuring 3 weeks bigger than he supposed to and no I do not have gestational diabetes... We just have big babies in our family. Dr Holmes then told us that it looks like he will be in there a few weeks after my due date because he's not ready to come out. I'm not dilated or anything... So not only is my kid possibly huge but he is stubborn. I don't know why I'm suprised. He is my child after all. I had to call my mom to cheer me up. After letting it soak in a little bit I've decided its not that bad of a thing. I am not uncomfortable or anything so I guess he comes when he's ready and thats good enough for me :) Dr. holmes did say though that if I do show progress he might induce me. I don't really want to be induced but if he thinks its a good idea I will trust the expert. All in all we are anxiously awaiting for the new arrival into our family.

A Shower of Love for Baby Riley!

So this post is a little delayed but in my defense I didn't have the pics to post with it. :) A few weeks ago my wonderful Sister-in-laws Leah and Brianne with my mom and mother-in-law threw a baby shower for baby Riley and me. It was so wonderful because I was able to see all of my friends and family especially some that I haven't seen in a very long time. We feel so blessed to have such a strong support system surrounding us.

For those of you that didn't know, Nolan and I have decided to name our lil' one Riley Dean Palmer. So my sister-in-law using her crafty skills created this banner for the shower. Nolan actually liked it so much that we hung it up in Riley's room. Go Leah!!
This is the front table of the shower so well decorated and crafty like.
Leah was the head party planner for this and did such a wonderful job. I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful sister-in-law in my family. I can honestly say she one of the sisters I never had growing up but I'm lucky enough to have for the rest of forever :) And Leah you need to grow a few inches so I don't look like a giant all the time. LOL
I just want to thank everyone that came to support our family and our soon to be new member of our family. Again I am so thankful to have such a wonderful support system.

Trendy and cute vs. Cute and reasonable

Ok so I need some real mom opinions here!! One of the only struggles I've had with becoming a mommy is I refuse to lose my style. Not that you have to lose your style in order to become a mommy but I want to be sure I don't when I do become a mommy. Kuddos to anyone that can make mommying look stylish! I grew up with fashion for most of my life and love everything fashion including accessories. With that said here is the question.

Do I choose a diaper bag that is still cute, really reasonable, and that can easily be wiped down inside and out, that comes with an adjustable strap that actually looks like a diaper bag? (pic below)

Or the Trendy bag I would use as a purse or a travel bag any day that is made of velvet and will need to be dry cleaned...? (pic below)

Yes I know most of you are rolling your eyes because this is such a small delima but this is what I do to pass the time before Baby Riley joins the fam LOL. Lets here any opinions you have about diaper bags. I want to here them all!! :)

Wonderful world of Disney

So those of you that don't know my family that well may be alittle worried by this post. But I assure you were are all pretty much sane. :) Most of the time... The Martineau Clan are big fans of Disney. Pretty much anything Disney but especially Disneyland. This year we took our annual sometimes bi-annual trip ( we love it that much) to Disneyland at the end of August. My loving mother and sister-in-law were a little worried as I would be 8 month pregnant when we went and wouldn't be able to ride a majority of the rides. Needless to say I was still up for it (only the weak would give up) and we all had a blast!

This is Shaun (my brother) and I by the traditional Indian Statue on Main street drinking our Pineapple floats from the Tiki lounge. We have pictures dating back to I think our first trip to the big D of us two standing next to this statue.

This is me eating... like I always do. Hey a pregnant girls gotta keep her energy level up somehow. I'm going to count this as my 30 week pic as well because as you can see baby Riley has taken over my body.
This is Nolan and I riding Toy Story Mania one of the coolest rides at the park as well as one of the only rides they would let me ride. I was really wanting to ride space mountain and splash mountain was going to tell the workers that I was just really fat but I don't think that would've have worked. Anyways, this is also a documentation of me whooping Noland at a video game like ride. Yes you heard me I won!! He then had to say at the end of the game " oh I think my gun wasn't working right" Hun just stop being a sore loser Hee Hee. That's ok I still love him :)

This is Nolan and I at the beach. It was a perfect day at the beach. Not too hot not too cold perfect. I got to live through Shaun and Leah while they boogie boarded. We also rented one of those big 8 seater carts and rode it around. It was hilarious because I think when they said 8 people they didn't put into account that Leah is the smallest one in our family. The next closest is a 5"11 pregnant women. LOL so we were crammed but it made it that much more funny.

At the end of the trip we went to the Story Teller Cafe in the California Adventure Hotel to celebrate my brothers 28th birthday. It was by far the best buffet I have ever been to and I can't wait to go back.. To the cafe or Disneyland!

All in all it was a fun filled trip!!! Thank you Nonners, Papa Dougart, Shaunicans, Leah Sopapia, Ryker boy and Mills for making this trip for Nolan and I so much fun!!!
