This past week when I was at work I had a patient that I had for a few weeks in a row. Since she had been in so long we talked alot. So a few days ago she gave me her family recipe for Banana Bread. Mind you that I love to bake but just barely started this passion. (When you grow up with Martha Stewart minus the bad hair for a mother you dont really ever think you need to learn how to cook or bake) So with that said I decided to attempt this recipe. Suprisingly the bread turned out great!! Not because I doubted if the recipe was good but more the baker could do it ;) Anyways, I thought I would share this with anyone that would like to try it out.

Banana Bread Recipe

1 cup shortening

2 cups sugar

Combine until crumbly

6 very ripe bananas

4 eggs

Add to sugar and shortening mix

2.5 cups of flour

2 teaspoons of baking soda

1 teaspoon saltAdd to mix

Preheat over to 350. Bake mix in 2 loaf pans for 30-40 minutes. Then reduce heat to 300 and bake for another 30-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Then comes baby!

No I didn't have my lil' baby boy yet. That would be really bad since I'm only 7 months pregnant! But I did get to experience one of my really good friends have her baby this week. Shannon and I grew up together literally in diapers and ironically enough we both happen to get pregnant with boys who will only be a few months apart. Well She was nice enough to invite me to witness this lil' miracle be born. I ended up missing alot of the first part because it took 30 hours from when she was induced to when she actually had baby Teegan. But I got to see alot of birthing process and have decided that if she can birth a small bundle of joy then I will be able to too. I will be getting an epideral though. Sorry, Shannon your just alot tougher than I am. I figure if I don't have to be uncomfortable why should I? :) Anyways this lil' Phillips was born Sunday August 9, 2009 @ 8:19 pm and weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. I am thankful to have been a part of this and am excited for her lil one to meet my lil one. It was kind of funny because when Teegan was getting all cleaned up and was crying Riley started kicking like crazy. I like to think that Riley was happy that his friend from heaven made it out safely :) Love ya Shannon. You'll be a great mommy.

Martineau Family Reunion

This past Friday Nolan and I were able to attend the Martineau family reunion. ( My dad's Side)My dad has a large family so it was great to see all my cousins and relatives. At times it was interesting because Nolans Brother married my cousin so when my Grandma introduced Nolan and his brother in the same sentence as brothers my cousins got really confused. It didn't help that Nolan and his brother (Matt) look very similar as well. How ironic that two cousins married two brothers :) The Reunion was up in Heber Az and the weather was perfect! It was nice getting out of the heat. All in all it was a fun filled day of food family and games.
PS This is me at 26 weeks. I had an Aunt that was due next week and my baby bump was bigger than hers... Palmer babies don't run small...
